What was your favorite subject in school? Were you a fan of math, science, language, or the arts? We all had a special subject that kept our attention and ignited our passions. Some students even go on to pursue a career in the field that they love.
But as wonderful as school was (and as important as a formal education is for a society to advance) there are only so many subjects that can be covered during the course of a school day. When you graduated from high school or college, you may have had knowledge about 18th century politicians and 16th century composers, but how much did you know about preparing a tax return or changing the fan belt on your car? You may have been able to explain how a strand of DNA copies itself every time a cell divides, but could you balance your checkbook?
