In this series of blog posts, I have been sharing novel ideas for creating seed money. While the thought of having to work extra time outside of your 9-5 job might not seem too appealing, you should make sure that you keep your big picture goal in mind: you are working to achieve financial independence and to enjoy a worry-free retirement.
While I am personally in favor of making big checks with your time, I know that sometimes people find themselves with very little to invest in their education and marketing. They need to first make a few thousand dollars of seed money, even if it means doing some less than glamorous jobs for little while.
With that in mind, I would like to introduce you to the concept of pet care.
People love their animals, but don’t always have the time to take care of them. That’s why they need pet sitters, groomers, dog walkers, trainers and even people who can pick up the messes their animals leave behind.
Do have any experience taking care of animals? Can you spend some time each weekend helping pet owners to care for their four-legged friends? If so, then you might be able to make a decent amount of money in a relatively short period of time.
Whether you charge by the hour or a flat rate to pet sit or to clean up after an animal, make sure that it is worth your while. The point will be to make as much money as you can in as little time as possible. And the money you earn shouldn’t be blown on a cruise, expensive dinners, or a new car – all that stuff comes later. Instead, place it into a special bank account marked “Seed Money” and once you have built up the balance enough you can start making some investments.
